Week 5 // Ideation

On this week we finally started to think about the solution to our problem.

We met on class for the first time, for the first live lecture for a long time (COVID...).

We were introduced and practiced three ideation techniques: brainstorming, copy from the best and perfect assistant.

BRAINSTORMING

The well-known technique involved firing ideas from our mind with no judgement. We maximized on quantity over quality on this exercise, and managed to reach to 30 independent ideas within 20 minuets. After the storming, we categorized the ideas into three categories: practical, non-practical and surprising.

We categorized 19 of our 30 ideas as practical, and we had some non-practical ides that are interesting and can become practical, but all the ideas needs to be polished or be thrown away in the future.

COPY FROM THE BEST

On this ideation exercise we had to think about 5 best products (products or services that we consider awesome), take inspiration from their values and think of a new product that solve our HMW (how might we... problem definition) based on the best products values.

The products we chose as best products were:

  • Nespresso

  • Waze

  • Instagram

  • Yad2

  • Electric scooter

PERFECT ASSISTANT

This ideation exercise try to help us think about a technological solution, without technology.

Its easier for us to imagine a human assistant to help us solve difficulties better than unknown technology, so we had to tell a "day in a life" persona story that deals with our problem and aids a personal human assistant to solve some of it's problems.
