Week 20 // Demoing

Hi all!

The final event of the year in approaching, and we start to focus our efforts towards it. Here is a little summary of our progress of the past week.

Tech & Design

We made a significant step towards SeeMe final prototype. After a full day at the lab where we printed, painted, coded and tested - we reached the best working demo so far.

In the design, we cut the wooden frame for SeeMe, and an improved tree shape out of special white Plexiglas. We attached the 60 LEDs to the wooden frame, and fine-tuned the soldering on the board.

In the tech, we added the sound feature - a speaker that plays relevant sentence that SeeMe says to the class when it changes its state. The vocal sentence suppose to increase the engagement and encourage dialog among the students themself, and among the teacher and the students.

We made design progress and bug fixes on the SeeMe web-app as well.

User Testing

We conducted user testings with two 5th grade students, and a teacher.

The tests with the students were managed to check the relevance and impact of the sound feature on the users. The two students gave us comments about the using scenario and its flow, they touched the importance of the teacher in the process, and gave good comments about the sound feature along with the tree update.

The test with the teacher was managed to check the impact of the product on the teacher, in the sense of call to action - is a coloring tree suspended on the classroom walls if enough to encourage the teacher involvement? The answers were very satisfying and positive.

Scripting

As the final demo day approaches, we keep on working on the product movie. The script is almost finished, and we managed to find actors and location for the shootings!
